Switchwise.com makes it easier for Staywarm customers to compare and switch gas and electricity suppliers.
Many sites have struggled with offering a comparison for Staywarm customers because customers pay a fixed price, not directly linked to how much energy they use.
Switchwise.com has developed our gas and electricity comparison site to enable Staywarm customers to compare all suppliers. As well as this, we also look after the switch for you when you choose a new supplier, making the process as easy as possible.
StayWarm is an energy tariff provided by Powergen which only applies to houses where someone aged 60 or over lives. Electricity and gas is supplied at one fixed price all year round regardless of how much is used. The cost of StayWarm is based on the number of bedrooms in the house, the number of people who live there and the results of an energy audit.
In order to compare Staywarm prices with all other tariffs, we need the annual consumption in Kilo Watt Hours (KwH) of gas and electricity and also how much you pay.
It's best to have meter readings for a year. You should be able to find this information on a statement that is sent to you.
Use the Switchise.com price comparison service as normal. When you select Powergen as your supplier and Staywarm as your current tariff. This will then bring up additional input boxes for you to enter your usage and your spend.
On the results page, the saving column displays the amount you could save by switching supplier.
Note: Some tariffs are capped/fixed, which mean the price show will be fixed until the period stated. Other tariffs are not capped/fixed, which means suppliers are free to change their prices.
Make sure you review your calculations carefully and bear in mind the benefits of staying with StayWarm before making a decision to switch to another supplier. Consider if the next winter is very long and cold, will it be better to stay with a fixed price supplier.
The StayWarm scheme can be excellent for some people and is well worth considering whether to join or to stay joined with them.
The calculations above are provided as a guide only and you should check the calculations and overview carefully before making a change. Switchwise.com only provides this information to assist and is not responsible for any decisions that you make using this guidance. Please take care and check before switching.
